Typhon: Eclipse Book 2

As the war to reclaim East Banzen rages on, General Pike's forces search local space for Typhon, a ship with eight experimental weapons hidden by a government scientist turned madman who claims it contains a dangerous malfunction. The Dark Phoenix relays the information to Carver who enlists an old friend, deep space explorer Brad Jones to find and destroy Typhon, but some monsters are best left undisturbed.
